"The Rise of Skywalker" Is A Disaster, Period.

When Will Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Come To Disney+ ...

I had kindled some hope that the final episode of Star Wars would somehow redeem the epic disappointment of the previous two Sequel movies, but instead, The Rise Of Skywalker was worse than I could have ever imagined.

People say Disney ruined Star Wars, but it hasn't; it has only ruined the Sequel trilogy. Disney has done great before: Rebels and Solo were good; Rogue One, The Mandalorian, and The Clone Wars (through while that wasn't really Disney) were awesome and fantastic. But the third trilogy was awful and disastrous, with The Rise of Skywalker being the worst. There's an incredible number of things wrong with just this one, the inexplicably huge fleets, the replacement of Rose with Jannah, how main character's deaths are boring, like Leia's, Hux's, and Kylo's, even though they've gained powers to resurrect each other and heal any wound. The plot goes everywhere and has more holes than a dam made of Swiss cheese.

The movie did some things just for the sake of trailers, like Dark Rey, and Palpatine. They just reveal Palpatine's sudden reappearance without any prologue (showing how all the Sequel movies are just all over the place, they could've revealed Palps in a much bigger way in the previous movie), and just how did he survive the Death Star II? Where did he get the hundreds of Sith “followers,” or the fleet of “mini-Death Stars?”  The Dark Rey was there for only seconds, and was like a bad version of awesome Dark Yoda in the Clone Wars. And while I realize most of my complaints are with plot holes, the biggest problem with this movie is that, for me, it lost all true feeling of Star Wars, mostly because everything felt forced; the kisses, introducing old and new characters who didn't do anything, the ending, and the whole Sequel trilogy in general, which basically could exist without the previous six movies, or as this Episode does, without the other Sequel Episodes themselves.

The film did have some good and interesting bits, nonetheless. The idea of a "Force dyad" brings many new ideas to Star Wars Universe. And while Palpatine was thrust in there, it was an amazing portrayal. I did feel the evil and menace of the Emperor. It was a good move to bring him back, to help tie all the movies together, though it was done in the wrong way.

The main problem would be that the Sequel movies that show up greatly with this Episode are that they tend to dismantle each other. They turn important characters into non-consequential roles and they become pointless, like Rose and Snoke, who could have had a lot going for them. Rey’s parents become somebody while staying nobody, and characters like Luke just change completely depending on the movie. They try to sweep each other under the rug. Instead of driving Star Wars forward, as the main Episodes are supposed to do, they fall back and suffer for it.
