New "Thrawn" Trilogy Is Complete

One of the most brilliant and ruthless warriors in the Star Wars universe, the legendary Thrawn has returned once again to prove his mastery of war and strategy and make his mark on the galaxy.

Famous for using his enemies' art to defeat them, and the most beloved character of the old Expanded Universe (now dubbed Legends and no longer a part of the Disney Canon), Mitth'raw'nuruodo was introduced in the novel Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn, and recently returned in Star Wars Rebels. Now Zahn has penned three new and canon adventures about one of the best villains in fiction.

After the events of Zahn's pre-Disney "Outbound Flight" (a great read to introduce you to Thrawn and still not contradict with the Disney Canon), Thrawn is banished from the Chiss Ascendency, and rescued by the Imperial soldiers. He quickly captures the attention of Emperor Palpatine, and just as quickly, uses his ingenuity to rise through the ranks, all the way to Grand Admiral of the Seventh Fleet. Throughout the trilogy, he teams up with both Anakin and Darth Vader, grapples against Director Krennic,  and - although he dominates the battlefield - he must learn how to navigate the arena of politics, and prove to the Emperor that his loyalty remains undivided. The books expertly tie in the Rebels show into his story, and makes the show much more three-dimensional.

While Thrawn has been a famed figure in Star Wars lore, this is the first time we see Thrawn's point-of-view and can glimpse inside his big blue head. He mentors Ensign Eli Vanto and Commandore Karyn Faro and teaches them analyzation and discernment, and just how he is able to get into the heads of his enemies. In the old novels, it was much more of the grand reveal at the end that Thrawn showed off his superior intellect, but here, we understand Thrawn himself and his thinking through his own thoughts with those of Vanto and Faro.

I read the Zahn's original Thrawn novels and instantly loved everything about this big bad blue art conossuiser and war mastermind, and I'm glad that Disney made the wise move to bring him to Star Wars screen in Rebels and the new proposed show, where new and old fans can admire him again. I can't get enough!
